Job increases on the upswing

243,000 Jobs Added in January 2012!

According to the Wall Street Journal, the US added 243,000 jobs in January 2012. And, as we all know, the nationwide unemployment rate dropped to 8.3%, better than analysts had forecast. The news is good, of course, but could be so much better. Let's all hope that we're finally moving in the right – and sustainable – direction!

Recruiter Confidence Edging Up

ExecuNet's January recruiter survey continues to show recruiter confidence edging up. Projections for the next six months show 1 in 5 companies adding executive-level positions and almost 6 in 10 companies selectively 'trading up' their management bench strength by recruiting replacements for existing roles. This recruiting activity underscores the existence of a hidden executive job market at this point in the economic upswing.
